We welcome our MYM clinician for 2008, Joseph Martin, one of North America’s most renowned musicians. Joseph has over 600 choral and keyboard compositions in print and the list is still growing. Constantly in demand as a fine concert pianist and clinician, he keeps up a grueling schedule of performances in churches and at church/school music conferences. He currently serves as Director of Sacred Publications at Shawnee Press, Inc. Joseph Martin will share his choral knowledge, testimony, humour, and piano artistry during the MYM week-end. The Celebration Concert on Sunday, May 25 will feature the music of Joseph Martin, and other selections from the catalogs of Alfred Publishing Co., Beckenhorst Press, Hope Publishing, and Shawnee Press. *A musical highlight will be hearing the piano artistry and ministry of Joseph Martin in concert! Joseph M. Martin A native of North Carolina, Joseph began his career as a concert pianist and started composing and arranging sacred music in 1990. He is now recognized as a leader in the field of contemporary Christian music with over 600 compositions in print. Joseph Martin is widely known for his many choral and keyboard publications and as artist on three solo recordings of piano music, published by GlorySound, a division of Shawnee Press, Inc. His first solo recording, American Tapestry, was also recorded for Yamaha's Disklavier series. He is co-author, along with David Angerman and Mark Hayes, of KEYS FOR THE KINGDOM, a progressive piano method for the Christian student which has been well-received in both the private instruction and Christian school markets. Joseph Martin received his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina and his Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas. Austin. As a winner of the Nina Plant Wideman Competition, he performed with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. His solo recital in Exconvento del Cartnan was broadcast nationally throughout the country. Joseph taught for five years in the Piano Pedagogy Department of the University of Texas, Austin, under the direction of Amanda Vick Lethco and Martha Hilley. Joseph M. Martin is Director of Sacred Publications at Shawnee Press, Inc. The appointment of Joseph Martin to this position, signifies the commitment of Shawnee Press.
